Gratitude is the quality of being thankful, readiness to show appreciation for, and to return kindness. It is the feeling of being grateful or thankful and the attitude in acknowledgement of a benefit you have received or yet to receive.
When we were kids, we were taught to say “thank you” to show gratitude. But there are much deeper ways of showing gratitude. That is the everlasting expression of appreciation for what one has done. It could be by keeping a friendship, a relationship, a secret, returning favours, or performing a duty etc.
Are you grateful? Grateful individuals, are the ones who appreciate the simple pleasures of life, the little goodness in life, and the little things that brings smiles on their faces, such as the rise of the sun, the opportunity to correct the wrong, the reasons to move on, the chance to live again etc. and thereby subjecting them to mere frequent feelings of gratitude.
Human beings naturally are not content with the little we have. Everything at all is not enough. We tend to want more of the things we have, and sometimes forget we have more than to be grateful for. When little storms rise, we throw away all the good times and wallow in pain and discomfort. Truth is, we sometimes let the bad times overshadow the good times and this makes us ungrateful. Let’s learn to acknowledge the things we’re thankful for, this will help us magnetize all the positive vibrations in life.
Grateful individuals do not feel they are deprived and would otherwise feel a sense of abundance but rather, they acknowledge the contribution and involvement of other people in the attainment of their wellbeing. The recognition of the people who sent some time with you, a smile with you, those who felt empathy, even those who felt sympathy for you are very important.
Gratitude does not only mean thank you, it is also the warm feeling you get when you remember the persons who believed in you, those who encouraged you, those who offered a shoulder for your tears and the persons who fed you. The people who make us happy are important in our lives. They deserve to be gratified forever, this is because, they made us live at one point in time.

Gratitude brings us happiness; it gives us the hope of getting the things we don’t have yet. Physically, it strengthens us; it is the essence of a good mental health and spirituality, which gives us positive psychology and an authentic happiness with great satisfaction. Realize the importance of experiencing gratitude and see to it that you express such emotions. Be grateful, it is not happiness that brings us gratitude; it is gratitude that brings us happiness.
